KC Concepcion season is here! The 1st-round pick and former Aggie wide receiver followed up a string of quiet games with an official breakout performance on Sunday versus the Tennessee Titans. The 24th overall pick in the 2026 draft and the co-number one wide receiver with Denzel Boston, Concepcion is finally being featured in a way that befits his talent and draft investment. Possessing elite twitch and playmaking ability, Concepcion moves around the offensive formation to create confusion and mismatch nightmares for the defense. A multi-level threat, he can win at all three levels, and also the rare fourth level, behind the line of scrimmage. The jet-sweep and screen game is a bonus that not all wide receivers have.
Elite acceleration, elite foot quickness, very good lateral agility, and very good competitive play strength allow him to be the best RAC WR of the rookie class. He transitions smoothly from receiver to runner; his contact balance and elusiveness let him slither, twist, spin, and contort past defenders with ease. These traits have me seeing a hybrid of Zay Flowers and Luther Burden.
Concepcion is proving that his underlying market share metrics warrant every-week fantasy starter consideration in Cleveland’s aerial attack. If you filter out his injury-shortened Week 5 performance against the Jets, his usage profile as the primary target funnel becomes clear. In his six fully healthy contests, he has commanded a steady 23.5% target share while maintaining a 74% snap share.
The primary catalyst for his fantasy value is how his usage turns into high-efficiency production when he is featured. During his big week 7 breakout, Concepcion weaponized a 29% target share against the Titans for a career-high 129 receiving yards. Cleveland built the game plan around his dynamic skill set, using him heavily in the short-to-intermediate game and posting an elite 4.16 yards per route run. Concepcion’s advanced metrics give him an elite rookie profile built to excel over the second half of the season.
KC Concepcion has officially graduated from a highly anticipated stash to a mandatory starter in all formats. His eruption against Tennessee was a ticking time bomb waiting to blow. His ascension has long-term value for dynasty managers and, if the trend continues, he could become a foundational asset.
Darian Mensah’s rise to college football stardom feels like something cooked up in a Hollywood writers' room. Long before he was pulling the strings for the top-ranked team in the country, he was just another high school kid on the California coast wondering why the big-time programs wouldn't give him the time of day.
Born in San Luis Obispo in early 2005, Mensah put together a stellar high school resume at St. Joseph in Santa Maria. His senior year, he was absolute hell for opposing defenses, racking up 2,300 passing yards and 25 touchdowns while adding another 400 yards and eight scores on the ground. He walked away with the Mountain League Player of the Year trophy, but when it came to his recruiting status, the experts shrugged. He was tagged as a lowly two- or three-star prospect. The consensus seemed to be that he just didn't fit the prototype. The phone stayed quiet until mid-August 2022, when Willie Fritz and Tulane finally decided to give him a chance. It was his only major FBS offer, and Mensah jumped on it.
When he arrived in New Orleans in the summer of 2023, nobody expected fireworks right away. He spent his entire first year redshirting, holding a clipboard, and getting used to how much faster everyone moved at the college level.
Lightning struck the following season. After a brutal battle in August camp, the redshirt freshman blindsided the coaching staff and the fan base by winning the starting quarterback job outright. He didn't just hold on; he ran with it. Mensah led the Green Wave to a gritty 9-4 record, throwing for 2,723 yards, 22 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. By December, he led the AAC in passer efficiency and accuracy. Realizing he had outgrown the mid-major stage, he entered the transfer portal to see what market he could command.
That market turned out to be Durham, North Carolina. Duke secured his services by throwing around some serious cash, locking him into a massive two-year NIL deal worth an estimated $4 million a year.
It looked like a bargain almost immediately. In his lone season with the Blue Devils, Mensah played with the poise of a fifth-year senior. He lit up the stat sheet with 3,973 yards and 34 touchdowns, broke Duke’s single-season passing records, and led the program to its first outright ACC Championship since 1962. He capped off the year by taking home MVP honors in the Sun Bowl. By all accounts, he was supposed to be the guy in Durham for 2026—but modern college football's wild-west nature had other plans.
What happened next was a chaotic legal mess that had the entire sport talking. In mid-January of 2026, Mensah shocked the Duke brass by re-entering the transfer portal. Furious that their multi-million-dollar investment was walking out the door, Duke University filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit in state court to legally freeze his transfer. It threatened to turn into a massive legal precedent for college athletics, but behind closed doors, both sides eventually agreed to an undisclosed financial settlement to make the problem go away.
With his legal baggage cleared, Mensah finally headed south to join the Miami Hurricanes.
The hype machine went into overdrive immediately. The media voted him the ACC Preseason Player of the Year before he had even put on a Miami practice jersey. Somehow, he's exceeded those absurd expectations. This fall, Mensah has been absolutely surgical, leading Miami to a perfect 7-0 start and the No. 1 ranking in the country. He’s completing a ridiculous 81.4% of his passes—the best mark in the country—and has thrown for 2,151 yards and 22 scores against just one lonely interception. Alongside star wideout Malachi Toney, the kid who had to beg for a college offer a few years ago is now sitting firmly in the driver's seat of the Heisman Trophy race.
