The 1st-round and former Buckeye rookie wide receiver followed up three quiet games with an official breakout performance on Sunday. The number 4 overall pick in the 2026 Draft, Tate is finally becoming the Titans' alpha weapon and pass-game funnel. Possessing elite natural traits that rival established NFL stars, Tate’s diverse skill set makes him the most dangerous perimeter player in the 2026 rookie class. Blessed with a very good catch radius, very good body control, and very good route savvy, he is a threat to win at every level of the field. He displays very good hands, very good pacing and tempo variation to separate on intermediate routes, and very good instincts when working through traffic to give Cam Ward a reliable target. Tate shows good run-after-catch ability, smoothly transitioning from receiver to runner to pick up extra yards. His elite ability is ball tracking, which allows him to use very good body control to contort and high-point passes with ease. While I don’t have an exact comp, I see shades of CeeDee Lamb and DeVonta Smith.
According to BlueChip Fantasy, Tate’s underlying volume metrics signal WR1 usage in Tennessee. Through four weeks, the rookie has commanded a rock-solid 83.75% snap share and a 29.85% target share. Even more impressive is his 36% first-read target share (Fantasy Points Data) and a massive 50.1% air-yard share (FantasyPros). The talented Tate’s Yards per Route Run (YPRR) against Baltimore jumped to an elite 5.18. While the Titans’ offensive efficiency has been limited out of the gate, Tate’s opportunity metrics suggest a safe weekly floor with potential production spikes.
Carnell Tate is now a priority start who is quickly ascending into must-have status in dynasty. After his breakout 22.5 fantasy-point performance against the Ravens, he’s locked in as a high-upside WR2/3 option heading into a shockingly favorable Week 5 divisional matchup versus the Houston Texans. His immense target floor and role as the clear go-to target make him an asset you can comfortably optimize into your starting lineups.
“Charlie B from Nashville” wasn’t always claimed by Music City and The Volunteer State. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, he and his family made the trek south just before kindergarten. The family never publicly cited a specific reason for the move, but his father, Dave Becker, summed it up from a parental perspective: “You always want your children to be better and have more opportunities than you.”
Those opportunities materialized quickly at Father Ryan High School, a prestigious private Catholic powerhouse in Nashville. There, Becker’s elite genetic gifts kicked in. The son of a former Ohio State football player and Toronto Blue Jays minor leaguer, and brother to a collegiate football player and collegiate soccer player, Charlie didn’t just play sports; he dominated them. In 2022, he won the Tennessee state championships in both the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles.
When the three-star recruit committed to the Indiana Hoosiers in June 2023, few expected the meteoric rise that followed. Becker’s career started slowly; as a true freshman in 2024, he was buried on the depth chart and spent his time grinding on special teams. Despite scoring on a three-yard touchdown run, he finished his first year as a Hoosier without a single reception.
Then came 2025: Indiana's magical, undefeated 15-0 season that changed everything for him and the program. The inexperienced sophomore and Mendoza’s roommate was forced into the starting lineup after starter Elijah Sarratt suffered a hamstring injury the week before the Penn State game. Becker immediately clicked with Mendoza, exploding for 118 yards, and never looked back.
"Maybe the biggest change is how we look at him, right? He was just a guy who needed an opportunity. He was a special teams demon for us in ’24, and early in the year when he got into games, he took advantage of his opportunities." - Curt Cignetti, Head Coach, Indiana
By December, he was a household name. In the Big Ten Championship game against Ohio State, Becker caught 6 passes for 126 yards, including an unforgettable 33-yard catch that iced the game and brought IU its first conference title since 1967. He followed that up by catching touchdowns in both the Rose Bowl and Peach Bowl, culminating in a 4-catch, 65-yard performance in the National Championship game to defeat Miami. He finished his breakout season leading the Big Ten with an absurd 20.0 yards per reception.
Currently a junior, Becker is no longer a hidden secret; he is a verified collegiate star and philanthropist. Partnering with Pat McAfee for the “Huddle for Hope” initiative, Becker is donating $1,000 for every touchdown he scores this year toward ALS research, a pledge McAfee promised to match.
Through the first five weeks of the 2026 season, Becker has already cashed in 8 touchdowns on 27 receptions for 477 yards, terrorizing defenses alongside quarterback Josh Hoover. The analytics tell an even scarier story for opposing defensive backs: Becker has zero career drops on over 70 college targets and boasts an elite 73.9% career contested catch rate. At 6040 and 208 pounds, he has the size, speed, and efficiency NFL front offices covet. ESPN draft analyst Jordan Reid recently ranked him No. 8 overall and the WR2 for the 2027 NFL Draft.
